Organised and hosted by RET International, this workshop took place in Panama City, Panama, bringing together representatives from organisations that submitted top-scoring case studies on sustainable CBDRM in the LAC region. The purpose of this workshop was to identify the factors that contribute to sustainable and institutionalised CBDRM and had 3 main objectives:
- Identify the key success factors for sustainable CBDRM
- Identify ways to expand the institutionalisation of CBDRM
- Recognise the challenges for both sustainability and institutionalisation of sustainable CBDRM
Participants discussed what CBDRM is and what sustainability and institutionalisation mean in the context of CBDRM. Through sharing experiences, participants were able to identify several factors of success for sustainability and institutionalisation of CBDRM.
The factors identified as contributing to sustainable and institutionalised CBDRM fed into the development of a global cookbook on how to institutionalise sustainable CBDRM.
