Taking place in parallel with the Americas Regional Platform for DRR in Cartagena, Colombia, this forum brought together local leaders who have promoted sustainable CBDRM in their respective communities to share their stories in a multi-stakeholder regional platform. It highlighted the importance of community leadership in developing sustainable and risk-sensitive activities in communities. The forum also identified elements that determine the effectiveness and sustainability of CBDRM, along with actions that promote meaningful integration of local leadership in DRR. It made some recommendations towards how to integrate the involvement of local leaders in the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of progress of the Sendai Framework for DRR.
